An Evening of Musical Comedy & Jazz

Wolds Village welcomes you to an evening of music and comedy in their beautiful gallery space

At the core of the evening's musical experience is Rob Law - a jazz pianist, composer and producer who has toured Europe and the Far East in various guises. He has performed with Alan Barnes, Mark Nightingale, Jim Mullen, Ian Dixon and Dennis Rollins amongst others and ran the popular Pave Jazz night in Hull for 15 years. Rob presents jazz piano favourites (with one two surprises) in slick arrangements, with his own modern, melodic twist. He cites Keith Jarrett, Bill Evans, Wynton Kelly and Barry Harris as key influences on his approach to improvisation. Expect emotionally-charged virtuosity from this versatile creative powerhouse! Chris Brealey has played and sung in local bands for decades and over the years he's developed his own particular brand of musical comedy - sometimes politial, sometimes nonsensical, always revelling in word play and rhyme. He will entertain you with a couple of sets this evening. You can get a flavour of his style here

To warm you all up for these main events we welcome Horizon, winners of the 2024 YWMF Gig Competition.

A young, upcoming band from the coast, this 5 piece band have undergone the metamorphosis from school band to one of the more well-established bands in the East Riding. They have been bursting through the local music scene with their broad range of influences, unique covers and impressive originals... Quite the mix!

There will be a bar of course, and Sally & Chris at Wolds Village will be selling cheese platters at £15 for two people. Please order these in advance by ringing Wolds Village on (01377)  217698.
